Frequently Asked Questions
Where are you located?
Our Office is located in Oasis Cove Marina on St. Thomas. Adventure Awaits is kept in this Marina (most of the time). For Information on the Round Town Picnic Boat location go to FAQs page for Round Town.
What happens if the Weather looks bad?
The Virgin Islands gets rain in one area or another almost every day, but they are usually short and spotty. Your captain will do their best to avoid rain clouds, but if there are dangerously high waves or strong winds your trip may be cancelled. If this happens you will have the choice of a refund or an option to reschedule.
What is your cancellation policy?
We offer a full refund 24 hours prior to your scheduled charter. If we have to cancel for an unforeseen event or unsafe weather conditions you will receive a full refund.
Are the charters private or shared?
This completely depends on what you want. When you pay the full charter price for the full day or half day option the yacht becomes privetly rented out by you and whoever you invite to join you.
If you want to do a full day or half day but don't want to pay the full price, let us know and we can open up the shared yacht trip to allow others to book the trip with you.
Do we tip our Captain and Crew?
Yes, it is customary to tip 15-20% to your Captain as well as the crew for an excellent day.
How accessible is the boat?
The step down from the dock is dependent on the tide. At times its a small step down, at other times it can be a long step down where sitting on the dock to step onto the boat may be best.
The boat has narrow steps that go up to the main seating area and more steps to get to the top of the boat. There are steps down to the galley, then again, more steps down to the aft state room where the guest bathroom is located.
There is a ladder to enter and exit the water.
This is a boat, which means the deck can get slippery as well as rock unexpectedly. It is advised that you always have 3 points of contact to the boat.
How early should I arrive for my charter?
At a minimum make sure to be there 15 minutes early. We advise that you try and make it 30 minutes early. You don't want to miss departure time. Unlike most charters Adventure Awaits has a nice air conditioned lounge in the office at Oasis Cove Marina to hangout in so feel free to come even earlier. Who knows, maybe the lounge is stocked and ready for a quick pre-charter snack and drink.
Where do we get picked up from?
We typically meet at the Office of Adventure Awaits located in Oasis Cove Marina and then go as a group to the slip. If you are a St John pick up, we will meet you at the National Park Pier in Cruz Bay. For the pick up location of Round Town Picnic Boats go to the FAQs page for Round Town.
What does the itinerary look like?
The itinerary depends on the number of stops and the distance to each island you want to visit as well as the length of time you would like to spend at each location. We do our best to accommodate what you want to do or where you want to go. It may not always be feasible or safe depending on weather or boat traffic in the area. A member of our team will reach out to you to discuss your desired destinations. On the day of your charter the captain will determine if your itinerary coincides with that days weather and sea state.
What is needed for the BVI?
Currently we are not able to do day trips to the BVI due to Covid restrictions. Once the BVI opens up trips will be added but the current prices do not reflect trips to the BVI.
What is the average fuel charge?
Fuel is included in the price of our trips.
Why is a child considered 12 and under?
We base the child ticket on the life jacket regulations. Children 12 and under must wear a life jacket while underway.
